FunClubGroup

Hosting on a TV, projector or laptop

Best ways to show FunClubGroup on the big screen: smart TV, HDMI laptop, casting or a projector, plus sound, full screen and keyboard shortcuts.

Updated

Pick your screen

  • Laptop + HDMI (most reliable): plug the laptop into the TV and open the game in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. You get a keyboard for shortcuts.
  • Smart TV browser: open funclubgroup.com in the TV's built-in browser. Fine for Spin Wheel and Polls; the remote can be fiddly for the rest.
  • Casting: cast a browser tab from your laptop with Chromecast or AirPlay. Cast the whole tab so the sound comes along.
  • Projector: same as a laptop on HDMI. Dim the lights so the QR code stays easy to scan.

Sound and full screen

Each show has music, an announcer and sound effects. Browsers only allow sound after you've clicked once on the page, so click or press a key before guests arrive.

Use the volume control on screen. The level is remembered on that TV for next time. Press F for full screen.

Some games add their own keys, for example R to redraw in Spin Wheel and 1โ€“4 to answer in Trivia demo mode.

If the TV refreshes

Don't panic. The big screen remembers its room for up to 6 hours, so reloading the page reopens the same room with the same players and scores.

Questions

Can I host from a phone or tablet?

You can, but a big screen works much better. The show is built for a room to watch together, and a keyboard gives you the shortcuts.

Why is there no sound?

Browsers block sound until you interact with the page. Click anywhere on the big screen once, then check the on-screen volume and that the TV isn't muted.
